{"id":177,"date":"2016-05-29T22:56:22","date_gmt":"2016-05-29T19:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/2016.kyiv.wordcamp.org\/?page_id=177"},"modified":"2016-09-20T14:08:31","modified_gmt":"2016-09-20T11:08:31","slug":"english","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kyiv.wordcamp.org\/2016\/english\/","title":{"rendered":"Information in English"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Welcome!<\/h2>\n<p>This is the information page for non\u2013Ukrainian\u2013speaking participants of <strong>WordCamp Kyiv<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It will be held <strong>September 24 &amp; 25, 2016<\/strong> in <strong>Kyiv, Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first official WordCamp in Ukraine, following three years of successful WordPress conferences under local\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wpkitchen.com.ua\/\">WP Kitchen<\/a>\u00a0name.<\/p>\n<p>We plan to welcome <strong>250 attendees<\/strong> for <strong>2 days<\/strong> of talks.<\/p>\n<h2>Will there be talks in English?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes! We have four talks in English planned, <a href=\"https:\/\/2016.kyiv.wordcamp.org\/schedule\/\">see schedule<\/a>\u00a0(English talk titles).<\/p>\n<h2>Where is it?<\/h2>\n<p>Main WordCamp location: Incom Business Center,\u00a0Smolenska St. 31\/33,\u00a0Kyiv, Ukraine.<br \/>\nAfter Party (September 25, 19:00) location: Pink Freud, Nyzhnii Val St, 19, Kyiv, Ukraine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"googlemaps\">\n\t\t\t\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" marginheight=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1rLTQjxF0x8u4OGzJhwf-aw_TSts\"><\/iframe>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<h2>Where to stay?<\/h2>\n<p>There is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trc-cosmopolite.com\/\">Cosmopolite<\/a> shopping &amp; entertainment center right next to the venue (Vadyma Hetmana St, 6), which includes two hotels as part of the complex:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cosmopolite-kiev.com\/en\/\">Cosmopolite Art Hotel<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/iqhotel.ua\/en\/\">IQ Hotel<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shuliavska metro station is walking distance away, making it ~30 minutes trip to the city center, which has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.booking.com\/city\/ua\/kiev.html\">wide selection of hotels and hostels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.com\/s\/Kiev--Ukraine\">Airbnb<\/a>\u00a0if you are looking for an apartment.<\/p>\n<h2>Travel information<\/h2>\n<h3>Visa<\/h3>\n<p>Citizens of\u00a0European Union countries, United States, and many\u00a0other countries do not need\u00a0visa to visit Ukraine for up to 90 days stay.<\/p>\n<p>Please check current requirements for your country at <a href=\"http:\/\/mfa.gov.ua\/en\/consular-affairs\/entering-ukraine\/visa-requirements-for-foreigners\">Ministry of Foreign Affairs site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Airport<\/h3>\n<p>International flights typically arrive to the <a href=\"http:\/\/kbp.aero\/en\/\">Kyiv Boryspil<\/a>\u00a0(KBP) airport.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the city you can use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>official taxi stand in arrivals hall (don&#8217;t use any unofficial drivers approaching you);<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/skybus.kiev.ua\/en\/\">SkyBus<\/a>\u00a0bus service, regularly departing right outside of arrivals exit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Currency<\/h3>\n<p>The currency is Ukrainian <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ukrainian_hryvnia\">hryvnia<\/a>\u00a0(UAH). \u00a0\u20ac1 ~ 28 UAH.<\/p>\n<p>Larger places will accept cards, but having some cash\u00a0on you is recommended.<\/p>\n<p>There are ATMs at the airport, as well as right at the entry to the venue.<\/p>\n<h3>Transport<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Travel-g294474-c124041\/Kiev:Ukraine:Getting.Around.By.Subway.html\">Kyiv Metro<\/a>\u00a0(subway) is fast and convenient way to get around the city. Single\u00a0trip to any destination is 4 UAH.<\/p>\n<p>To order taxi you can use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uklon.com.ua\/\">Uklon<\/a>\u00a0site\/app. You will see price for the trip in advance and can request English\u2013speaking driver. Short trips in the\u00a0city are usually within 100 UAH.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uber.com\/cities\/kyiv\">Uber<\/a> service was\u00a0recently\u00a0enabled in Kyiv, but it can be hard to hail a free car in it.<\/p>\n<h3>Mobile<\/h3>\n<p>The city had recently got 3G coverage by major operators. \u20ac2\u20133 prepaid plan from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vodafone.ua\/en\/rates\/private\">Vodafone<\/a>\u00a0(formerly MTS) or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kyivstar.ua\/en\/kr-620\/mm\/tariffs\/\">Kyivstar<\/a> will get you cheap calls and couple gigabytes of 3G data\u00a0included.<\/p>\n<h3>Power<\/h3>\n<p>Power grid\u00a0is 220V with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schuko\">Type F (Schuko)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Europlug\">Type C (Europlug)<\/a> sockets, same as much of Europe.<\/p>\n<h2>For more information<\/h2>\n<p>Please send your questions to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:kyiv@wordcamp.org\">kyiv@wordcamp.org<\/a>\u00a0or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WordCampKyiv\">@WordCampKyiv<\/a> on Twitter (DM open).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome!
